Santa's House
Winter holidays are approaching fast and we are all impatient to gather with family and friends to celebrate the arrival of Santa Claus. Mythical character, he is very popular with young and old alike. As you know, real estate being an integral part of our lives, Square's International decided to investigate Santa's House.
Since our childhood, we have been told that Santa Claus resides at the North Pole, in a remote place that is difficult to access for humans. This rumor is false, but the place where our dear friend Santa Claus lives remains very controversial.
- According to the Norwegians, he lives in Droback, a few kilometers south of Oslo.
- For the Swedes, he lives in Mora or Gesunda, northwest of Stockholm.
- The Danes think that Santa Claus lives in Greenland.
- For the Americans and French, he is at the North Pole in Alaska.
Each country had fun telling children a different story about Santa Claus' home. But after looking into the matter, we have located the almost official village of Santa Claus.
Santa and Mrs. Claus' village is located in a small village in Lapland, Rovaniemi, in the far north of Finland. Since the exact address of his home is a secret known only to a select few, he decided to set up his office in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, in 1985. Rovaniemi received the status of Santa's official hometown in 2010. And this place is very popular as it welcomes many visitors every year, especially at Christmas time.
For the record, Rovaniemi was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. In 1950, Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, visited Rovaniemi to see the reconstruction process. Since she wanted to visit the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi officials rushed to build a cabin five miles north of the city. This cabin marked the birth of Santa's village and it is still intact today, near Santa's main post office.
The village of the mythical man in red is a real village offering many services and amenities. A magical decoration to make the whole family dream. It is the most famous attraction in Lapland and a resort in its own right. It houses about 50 attractions in the form of entertainment companies, restaurants and cafes.
As for Santa's house, it would have been discovered by a Seattle real estate agency "Zillow". This announcement would have created a worldwide buzz on the networks. It would be a cottage built in 1800, having kept its original charm. But thanks to renovations in 2013, the property is now equipped with all the necessary modern comforts. The house offers three bedrooms with views of the snow-capped mountains, two bathrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, and even a workshop for the elves to work in. As far as decoration is concerned, you will find the colors of Christmas with a lot of red, green, wood, garlands and the Christmas spirit everywhere. The house is accompanied by 2500 square meters of land "ideal for playing reindeer". Attention, the house is not for sale but is estimated at about 615,000 euros to buy and 3,100 euros per month to rent.
You can find several immersive videos on the internet to discover the village of Santa Claus and some pictures of the "Santa Claus House" discovered by the American agency.
